Srinagar: Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has paid tribute to legendary MS Dhoni who has handed Chennai Super Kings captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikward in IPL.
For the second time in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), MS Dhoni has decided to step down as the leader of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise.
Dhoni relinquished captaincy on Thursday, the eve of Chennai’s IPL 2024 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed the new captain of the Yellow Briagde for the 2024 season.
Taking to X after CSK confirmed the leadership change for IPL 2024, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan reflected on Dhoni’s legacy in the cash-rich league.
“In the ever-expanding galaxy of cricket, MS Dhoni’s legacy as CSK’s leader shines bright, akin to a supernova, illuminating the path for the franchise with unparalleled brilliance and allure. His leadership will be remembered for decades to come. Good luck Ruturaj for your new responsibility as a CSK leader,” Pathan said.
