Srinagar: Coming back in form in style, Australia senior opener David Warner has shattered batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s long standing century record in International Cricket.
Warner scored his 20th ODI hundred on Saturday against South Africa. It was also Warner’s 46th international ton as the 36-year-old surpassed Sachin Tendulkar for most centuries as an opener.
He also has the joint 2nd-most hundreds among active players. India’s Virat Kohli with 76 tons tops the list.
Moreover, it was Warner’s 5th hundred against South Africa, more than any other opponent. He also completed 6000 runs as an opener in ODIs from 140 innings.
Along with a fiery knock by Travis Head at the other end, the Aussies smashed 102 runs in the first 10 overs. With that, they became the first team to score hundred runs in a powerplay in South Africa in ODI.
