Cycling star Akber Khan continues dominance, emerges winner

Srinagar: The International cycling star of Kashmir, Mohammad Akber Khan of TCI Max on Sunday went on to emerge winner in the Cyclothon event organized by Impressions Events from Nigeen Club to SKICC, here.

The event that saw almost all the top cyclists of the Valley participating in it was special in the sense that Akber Khan was taking part in local event after a long gap. Recently he had opeted out of event held in Budgam and it was least expected that he will be participating in this event. However this time he chose to participate and the cyclist who plays for TCI Max did not disappoint his fans and the cycling followers of Kashmir.

Soon after the flag off, Akber along with two cyclist of Celestial Buds School Waheed Ahmad Mansoor Ahmad took early lead. They managed to get a decent lead over rest of the riders and second bunch. After that the fifth for top three spots was between these three. Well before the finish line Akber used his all experience and sprint ability to cruise past the Waheed and Mansoor. Akber finished first while as Waheed finished second. Mansoor finished third.akber-khan

Saleem finished fourth while as Adil Teli of Arco finished fifth. Hilal Sofi of Physical College Ganderbal finished sixth, Rameez finished seventh, Parvaiz eight, Adil Ahmad ninth and Suhail Dar 10th.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir was chief guest on the occasion while as Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Farooq Ahmad lone was guest of honor.  The event was sponsored by J&K state Sports Council. Among others present on the occasion were Rifat Abdullah, Alta Ur Rehman,

Hailing his team for the win, Muzaffer Ahmad of Celestial Buds said, “My team is the filled with talented cyclist and today they dominated this event. I will continue to support them and one day they make our name proud at national and International level”.
