
In J&K all sports activities barring contact sports can resume within the guidelines issued by respective District Administrations, this was said by Secretary Youth Services and Sports J&K, Sarmad Hafeez.
As per recent guidelines’ sports activities can be resumed in all green and orange zones of J&K. The local activities without official backing have almost started in all the districts of the J&K. The J&K State Sports Council has also re-started its coaching classes that till recently were held through online medium amid COVID-19 restrictions.
“For every district there are different guidelines for the resumption of activities issued by respective district administration officials as per status of COVID-19 status in those districts. All players and organizers have to adhere to all the guidelines like social distancing while taking part in such activities,” said Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez was quoted by Daily Greater Kashmir.
Hafeez said that only no contact sports activities can be resumed while as all the contact sports activities can’t be held.
“Even in such zones where activities have been allowed to resume, only no-contact sports activities have been allowed. All the contact sports activities like wrestling, judo and any other activity where direct contact is between participants is strictly not allowed,” Sarmad Hafeez said.
He said that Sports Department is keenly monitoring the situation and is planning its activity as such.
“At present no big activity can be held while stadium can’t be opened for general public. There is still uncertainty about the situation and when things will go back to normal,” he said.
He said that during lockdown period Sports Council and Youth Services and Sports department continued it outreach program through online medium.
“Even during lockdown Sports Council continued its online coaching programe with players while as Youth Services and Sports officials were among the frontline workers helping other emergency departments,” he added.
