Babar Azam refuses to display any alcohol brand on his Somerset jersey

Srinagar, September 4: Pakistan limited-overs captain, Babar Azam, has refused to allow any alcohol brands on his Somerset jersey for the ongoing Vitality Blast T20 league.

According to PTI, Babar had informed the franchise during his contract signing about the removal of alcohol brands from his jersey. However, the right-handed batsman was seen displaying an alcohol advertisement on back of his shirt in his first match Thursday.

He though has now told Somerset to get it fixed.

“Apparently the logo was on the back of Babar’s shirt by mistake and the county has assured him it will be removed for the next match,” a source close to Babar Azam told PTI.

In the past as well, several Muslim cricketers have refused to display alcohol related ads on their jerseys; Hashim Amla being the leading example.
