At this point, Pakistan have the most lethal new-ball attack in the game: India Legend

Srinagar: Former India cricketer and a legend of the game Sunil Gavaskar has termed Pakistan current pace attack as the most lethal new ball attack in the game.

The pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf have been making headlines for running over their opponents.

Currently in the Asia Cup 2023 tournament, Haris Rauf leads the wickets chart by nine scalps, whereas Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi have seven scalps each.

“At one point of time it was Australia and Pakistan probably shared that number 1 and number 2 spot because Pakistan have always had top-class new-ball bowlers. But at this point of time, they have the most lethal new-ball attack in the game,” Gavaskar told Sports Today.

“They have a left-arm, right-arm combination. They can move the ball both ways at good pace. So, it’s not easy for any batter to get aggressive against them from the word go,” he further added.

The Super Four clash of India and Pakistan is scheduled to be held on September 10 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

In case if bad weather halts play on September 10, the match will continue on next day from the point it was suspended.
