Dubai: Hosts England have announced their Playing-XI for the Lord’s Test vs India with ace pacer Jofra Archer making a comeback. Test begins on July 10.
Archer will replace Josh Tongue, England’s solitary change, with the series poised at 1-1 currently. Interestingly Tongue is the highest wicket taker in the series with 11 wickets.
England playing XI for the Lord’s Test:
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (C), Jamie Smith, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir
Archer has represented England in 13 Tests so far, grabbing 42 wickets with three five-wicket hauls to his name, since making his debut in the Ashes 2019.
The pacer’s last two Tests came against India in 2021, where he snapped four wickets combined as England won in Chennai and India took the honours in Ahmedabad.
The 30-year-old will be a much-needed firepower in the England squad, who faced a massive defeat at Edgbaston in the second Test, thanks to a marathon knock by India skipper Shubman Gill, who broke a plethora of records.
The third Test begins at Lord’s on Thursday, 10th July.
