Srinagar: In a biggest controversy of ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka star cricketer Angelo Mathews got his revenge against Bangaldesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan after former was earlier Timed out.
Angelo Mathews after getting wicket of Shakib gave Bangaldesh captain a Timed send off reminding him of earlier act in the match.
Shakib Al Hasan scored 82 off 65 balls and was dismissed by Angelo Mathews.
In the first delivery of the 32nd over, Shakib tried to play on the leg side and only managed a leading edge, which was caught easily by Charith Asalanka.
After dismissing Shakib, Angelo Mathews pointed to his hand showing a time gesture as the Bangladesh captain was walking away towards the pavilion.
Earlier Angelo Mathews was Timed Out by Bangladesh. The Sri Lankan all-rounder came to the crease with a faulty helmet and as he called a substitute to change it, Bangladeshi players appealed to the umpire.
Mathews tried to explain Shakib about the situation, but he decided not to withdraw his appeal.
Meanwhile Shakib Al Hasan has faced backlash after the incident across the cricketing fraternity.
