Srinagar: Pakistan rising pacer Aamer Jamal has shined in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) by taking a five wicket haul for Comilla Victorians vs Khulna Tigers.
Aamer Jamal took 5-23 in the match to help his side secure a win.
Defending 149 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Jamal was held back and brought on as the fifth change. Initially, Jamal’s spell faced challenges, with his second delivery being a no-ball and the ensuing free hit resulting in a six. However, two balls later, he regained control, dismissing Evin Lewis, who mistimed a pick-up shot and was caught on the leg side.
Jamal maintained his dominance from that point, turning the tide from conceding eight runs in his first two legal deliveries to taking 2-3 in his next 12. Mohammad Nawaz was the next to depart, trapped in front after missing his attempted leg-side clip. Although the Pakistan all-rounder reviewed the decision, it was to no avail, as ball-tracking suggested the ball would have hit the leg stump.
Faheem Ashraf provided some resistance for Khulna Tigers, hitting Jamal for a six over deep mid-wicket. However, he fell attempting another big shot one ball later, edging behind.
Jamal found himself on a hat-trick, with Nahidul Islam caught by Towhid Hridoy at deep mid-wicket, followed by Nasum Ahmed getting a leading edge to the same fielder, this time stationed at cover.
With Khulna Tigers nine down, Jamal had five balls left but couldn’t complete the sixth, finishing with figures of 5-23. His performance was instrumental in Comilla Victorians winning by 34 runs.
In the three BPL games he hasnnow taken six wickets but has been economical.
