National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday inaugurated the Aga Syed Mehdi Memorial T20 cricket tournament organized by Al-Mehdi Foundation Budgam at Budgam.
Dr Farooq inaugurated the tournament by facing ceremonial first ball and also by supervising the toss between the two sides.
The inaugural match was played between Budgam-XI and Ompora-XI. Ompora-XI won toss and elected bat first. They scored 170 for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 20 overs. Imitiyaz Malla scored 91 runs from 55 balls. In reply Budgam-XI achieved the target in 19 overs for the loss of five wickets. Farooz Ahmad for his 70 run knock off 42 balls was adjudged man of the match.
