Police in Jammu and Kashmir have detained 11 members of a loal cricket club who were seen wearing Pakistan cricket team’s jersey in a video that has gone viral on social media, a media report said today.
Hindustan Times, quoting Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Central Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Bhat, reported that the cricketers were detained for questioning. “The boys are in the police station,” the reported quoted Bhat as saying.

The video clip of the boys wearing the green with Pakistan national anthem playing in the background, has gone viral since it was posted by Pakistan-based news portal Kashmir Media Service.
Quoting its sources, Hindustan Times reported that the video was from a cricket match between two teams, one representing Pakistan and the other India.
The players impersonating the Pakistan team turned out in that country’s colours, while the team representing India wore white.
“National anthems of both countries were played, like in any international match,” clarified a Ganderbal resident who didn’t wish to be named.
“Sources said a team of the counter-terrorism National Investigation Agency (NIA) will fly from New Delhi to the Valley on Thursday to probe the cricket incident,” said the report.
