Despite emerging as top all-rounder of the Vijay Hazare trophy for one day cricket, star cricketer of the State, Parvez Rasool was not picked up for the Deodhar Trophy tournament by the selectors.
In the six matches played in Vijay Hazare trophy, Parvez scored 207 runs and also picked nine wickets for JK that also included match winning hattrick.
JK cricket insiders said that Parvez has got rough deal while the selectors chose the sides.
“It is likely due to least influence in the BCCI affairs now as well as below par performance of JK in the event. Parvez did well in the event but JK failed as a team. It is the collective failure as team that has cost Parvez place in Deodhar Trophy,” said a source in JKCA.
The Indian selectors named Rohit Sharma and Parthiv Patel captains of the India ‘Blue’ and ‘Red’ sides respectively for the Deodhar Trophy tournament with senior off-spinner Harbhajan Singh coming back in contention after good performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The third team in the tournament will be Vijay Hazare champions Tamil Nadu. The three wicketkeepers will be Parthiv for the Red team, Rishabh Pant for the Blue team and Dinesh Karthik for Tamil Nadu. Ishan Kishan is out with calf muscle injury.
The tournament which will be the last 50-over competition before the Champions Trophy also features the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, all staking claim for a couple of batting slots that are up for grabs.
