No serious concerns with Kohli’s shoulder strain: BCCI Cricket FacebookTwitterWhatsAppCopy URL By KSportsWatch Desk March 17, 2017 India captain Virat Kohli suffered a shoulder strain on Day 1 of Ranchi Test, that required him to undergo scans later in the day. BCCI confirmed through a release that Kohli was recuperating from his injury and that relevant investigations revealed there were no serious concerns. Contrary to reports that suggested Kohli could be out of the ongoing game and even the series, the board stated that he will continue to receive treatment that should assist his participation in the remainder of the Ranchi Test. Virat Kohli was forced off the field after hurting his shoulder on Day 1 of the Ranchi Test. © BCCI Kohli put in a dive near the boundary in the 40th over of Day 1 in Ranchi and was seen immediately clutching his right shoulder. The skipper went off the field then and did not return for the rest of the day’s play. He was seen sporting an ice-pack on the shoulder in the dressing room. Ajinkya Rahane led the team in Kohli’s absence. “Virat’s injury, the exact status of that will be known first thing tomorrow morning. He is going to undergo some scans later today and we will know the exact status of it tomorrow morning. What happened today was that we took a precaution to make sure that he does not aggravate that injury,” team’s fielding coach R Sridhar said in the immediate aftermath of the incident. “As far as the technique of the dive is concerned, I think it was quite an intense chase to the boundary line and in his intent to save that one run, he stopped the ball and landed on his right shoulder when he rolled over. The impact was quite heavy because of the momentum he was carrying and so there was a shock on his right shoulder. That is the current status,” Sridhar had added.
