New York: WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has high praise for Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, calling him one of the top young stars destined to carry the company forward.
Speaking on the ALL THE SMOKE podcast, Rhodes opened up about WWE’s evolving landscape and named Dominik as a prime example of the next generation of superstars ready to lead the promotion into the future.
“Credit to whoever figures out — with load management — how we improve, and I’m seeing it,” Rhodes said. “Dom Mysterio is probably my favorite example. He’s working multiple companies for WWE at the moment. Special, special talent.”
Cody Rhodes Says Dominik Is Seen Internally as the Future of WWE
Rhodes went on to reveal that Dominik Mysterio is already viewed internally as one of WWE’s long-term cornerstones, a belief he wholeheartedly shares.
“He’s somebody that’s often cited internally — I don’t think I’m giving anything away here — as someone who’s going to be the future of WWE,” Rhodes explained. “He’s one of the ones that when it’s said, I believe it. I think I’m gonna come to a WWE show in 15 years and pay money to see him on top of the card because he’s figuring it out.”
The American Nightmare emphasized that Dominik’s success stems from learning how to manage his schedule, handle fan reactions, and deliver consistently strong performances.
Rhodes Praises Dominik’s Legacy and Rey Mysterio’s Influence
When asked about Dominik’s lineage, Rhodes confirmed that he is indeed the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, but noted that the young star has carved out his own identity.
“Yeah, but you’d never know. He’s tall. You’d know by the work and the hereditary passion that Rey has because Rey’s the greatest luchador of all time — with respect to El Santo,” Rhodes said. “Dom is special. There’s a few on that list, and that one for sure — I believe it. He’s somebody I’ll pay to see at an event in 15 years.”

Since making his debut in 2020, Dominik Mysterio has rapidly become one of WWE’s most talked-about stars. His heel run alongside The Judgment Day has helped him evolve from a second-generation rookie into a confident performer with championship credentials.
