“Will try my best, as will doctors”: Saim Ayub on Champions Trophy availability

Srinagar: Pakistan young opener Saim Ayub has said that he will try his best so will the doctors as he is battling injury ahead of Champions Trophy.

Saim Ayub, is currently in London as part of his rehabilitation to regain fitness in time for the Champions Trophy 2025.

“I will try my best, as will the doctors working with me, but I cannot say anything with certainty,” Geo News quoted Saim Ayub.

“I have no idea about the estimated time of recovery, but I will give it my all,” he added.

Ayub had sustained an ankle injury while fielding on the first day of the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

Following the injury, Ayub was sent to London by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for medical treatment. He has been in London for two weeks, consulting doctors and physiotherapists.

“I request everyone to pray for my recovery. My appeal for prayers extends to everyone,” he said.

When asked about his recent centuries and the growing dependence of the Pakistani batting lineup on him, Ayub responded:

“I don’t agree that the whole team depends on me. It’s not one player that makes the team; the entire team matters, and every player contributes and counts.”

Ayub has been examined by two renowned orthopedic surgeons in London, Dr. David Redfern and Dr. Lucky Jeyaseelan. He has also consulted with two physiotherapists specializing in trauma treatment.

Saim Ayub confirmed that he will soon be flying to Dubai once his visa is issued.
