Well almost every cricket follower of J&K may have heard this name but only few know him completely, the super star of J&K cricket Manzoor Pandaw.
On November, 1st 1993 a star was born named Manzoor in the poor family of Suganpora Sumbal which lies in the North Kashmir’s Bandipora District.
Manzoor says that his father is a laborer. The journey has been full of difficulties for the Young cricketer. He is the eldest among the eight siblings. I am working day and night and living a normal life. My family does have lots of expectations from me.
For playing cricket Manzoor left education half way. Manzoor’s cricket journey so far has been wonderful considering his achievements at local level.
Hitting a ball to all the corners of the park with superb timing has been the hallmark of the All-Rounder’s carrier so far. The supremely talented all-rounder exudes confidence and sounds optimistic of shining at higher levels.
“I just want to represent J&K at the National level and I am confident of doing it,” Manzoor told in an exclusive chat while expressing his great admiration to play in the Ranji Trophy.
Manzoor who represents his team Kashmir Knights aspires to be one of the best cricketing talents in the Narbal area.
The broad-shouldered all-rounder has already proved his talent by representing the leading affiliated cricket clubs like Kashmir Gym Khana, City Cricket Club and Amateur Cricket Club.
Last year I played in “UAE Friendship Cup” in Dubai runs there. Whenever I played out of the State I always scored runs be it Banglore, Haryana or Karnataka says Manzoor.
I have played the big leagues of J&K like, KDCL (Khyber Downtown Champions League),
JKCPL (Jammu & Kashmir Corporate premier League), PPCPL (Police premier cricket premier League)Jammu, PPCPL (Police premier Cricket premier League) Kashmir.
In the last edition of KDCL Manzoor smashed the fastest hundred of just 31balls for his team Alkhudam. It is no mean feat to do that needs super-human powers to achieve this feat.
Manzoor is hopeful of representing J&K in the Ranji Trophy one day. Travelling from a village where youth don’t have the concept of Ranji and to play against the best in league has been a great experience for Manzoor.
Manzoor started his cricket journey from Shiganpora cricket ground, Green Park Sozeith, Narbal cricket Ground and Aarath cricket Ground and other cricket Grounds.
Manzoor says the passion for cricket was ingrained in him since childhood.
“I have scored enough runs be it Club cricket, League cricket or any Tournament. I don’t have the exact data how many times I have scored the hundreds, but I am sure that I have smashed more than 40’Hundred’s. My carrier best Score is 211 which I have scored at Narbal ground.
Recently Manzoor smashed 100* in just 29 ball. Selection committee of JKCA have a look on the record’s. Words are less to express how much he is deserves to play in the Ranji T20.He can bowl, he can bat, he can field, he can keep wickets. Is there a more complete cricketer in shorter format of the game for JK than Manzoor Pandav.
