Srinagar: After facing lot of flak for his continued on air criticism of Babar Azam, commentator Simon Doull on Sunday was seen checking in with Pakistan skipper who wasn’t playing Peshawar Zalmi’s last league match against Islamabad United.
Babar was criticised by Doull for slowing down to complete his maiden PSL century during the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators on Wednesday.
Doull got a lot of angry reactions from Babar fans due to his criticism of Zalmi skipper.
“I don’t need to say what was said but it was good. Lots of respect from both sides and it was really good. He [Babar] wasn’t feeling at his best,” Doull said.
The Kiwi commentator opened up about his criticism of Babar on Saturday.
“When I talk about Babar, I talk about his intent. I have said it a year ago, forget about fab four, he is the top one for me. He was the best player in the world. This is the sort of tournament he should be dominating in my opinion. It is just an opinion,” Doull said.
“He should be dominating these bowling attacks. Not with a strike rate of 120 or 130. I loved his batting and intent today. That’s my point. I love watching him play. He should be saying to bowlers, ‘I am the Pakistan captain and you get me at your own peril, I will dominate you’,” he added.
