Srinagar: Contrary to earlier reports that former Pakistan Coach Mickey Arthur is likely to be appointed as online, but instead he is set to assume charge as Team Director.
According to reports, there will no head coach of the side. Instead, PCB is looking to hire assistant coaches for all three facets of the game i.e. batting, bowling and fielding coach, who will work with Arthur.
Former New Zealand cricketer, Grant Bradburn, is likely to take up the role as Pakistan team’s assistant coach. He had previously served as the fielding coach of the Pakistan men’s team from 2018 to 2020.
Despite assuming the team’s director position, Arthur will not be with the team during international series that will take place during the English county season, as he will continue to work as the full-time coach for Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
Pakistan will tour Sri Lanka in July for two Tests and take part in Asia Cup in September. Arthur is expected to be unavailable for these assignments, but will join the team for the 2023 World Cup in India and the Australian tour later this year.
Arthur is likely to arrive in Lahore in April and is expected to be with the team during Pakistan’s limited-overs series with New Zealand at home.
