Norwegian Skier rescued in Gulmarg

Srinagar: A Norwegian skier who had gone missing while skiing on upper reaches of Gulmarg was on Saturday late night rescue operation rescued from the Khar Nallah area of Drung.
Oeyvind Amot of Norway while snow boarding in Apharwat area of Gulmarg had lost his way and was stuck in the Khar Nallah area of Drung.
“My all appreciations for our SKI Patrol Team and guides of Gulmarg Adventure Academy, who did the rescue and found the lost skier in the Khar Nallah area of Drung. The video is shot immediately once the Tourist was rescued. Department of Tourism is committed to serve all,” Tweeted Assistant Director Publicity Zeeshan Khan while posting the video.

“We received information about the missing snowboarder in the evening through one local service provider and our team rushed to the spot with some local guides and traced and rescued him,” One of the ski patrollers said in the video.

“He was snowboarding alone without a local guide and he lost way while coming down from the mountain,” the ski patroller added.

“Police in Baramulla have rescued a foreign tourist namely Oeyvind Aamot of Norway, who arrived in the morning at Gulmarg and went skiing, while on return he lost his track and got stuck in Khar Nallah forests of Drung,” Police statement said.

“On receipt of this information, two police rescue teams of PS Gulmarg and the Tourism Department were immediately formed who followed two tracks around the forest area and finally reached the location of the foreign skier who was rescued from the forest area of Drung and was brought back to Gulmarg safely,” reads the press release.
