England vs India: No Umran Malik as India opts to bat first

Umran Malik hasn’t been included in India’s playing XI against England in the first T20I as Indian captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first.

Rohit said that pitch looks good and they would want to put runs on the board. Arshdeep Singh will be making his international debut.

“Looks like a good pitch, decent ground, sun is out, better to bat first,” says Rohit. “I am recovered now, I had a couple of hits so looking forward to it. We are prepared, the scheduling happens, we have the understanding that players will be swapped. Opportunities for the guys, these guys have been here a while, in Ireland, can’t wait to get back.” Rohit said.

Jos Buttler said, “A proud day, looking forward to the challenges ahead. Eoin has left the team in a great place and the pressure is on to take it forward.”

England: 1 Jason Roy, 2 Jos Buttler (capt & wk), 3 Dawid Malan, 4 Moeen Ali, 5 Liam Livingstone, 6 Harry Brook, 7 Sam Curran, 8 Chris Jordan, 9 Tymal Mills, 10 Reece Topley, 11 Matt Parkinson

India: 1 Rohit Sharma (capt), 2 Ishan Kishan, 3 Suryakumar Yadav, 4 Deepak Hooda, 5 Hardik Pandya, 6 Dinesh Karthik (wk), 7 Axar Patel, 8 Harshal Patel, 9 Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Arshdeep Singh
