Srinagar, April 17: Former India cricketer and Indian Premier League (IPL) side Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has said that England cricketer Moeen Ali batting at No.3 position suits the combination of CSK.
In first two games of CSK in IPL 2021 , Moeen Ali has been standout performed for the side . Moeen Ali was bought by CSK for Rs 7 crores jn this seasons auction.And the England all-rounder has not disappointed by giving out his best in first two games .
In the game against Delhi Capitals for CSK, Moeen scored 24 ball 36 and on Friday against Punjab Kings scored 31 ball 46. He also took a wicket against Punjab.
Stressing that CSK is going to use Moeen Ali at No.3 , MS Dhoni said that it suits CSK resources .
“We felt if Moeen Ali bats up the order, we can make use of the resources that we got. Moeen is a very good timer of the ball and plays authentic shots. We have to make the most of the resources, ” MS Dhoni said after the match.
Moeen Ali said that Dhoni is calm leader who just told him to enjoy himself and play proper cricket shots.
“MS tells me, Just to enjoy myself, really. It is nothing major. MS just says ‘just go out and time it, rather than hit the ball hard. I have worked quite hard with guys like the coaches, so I am really enjoying the atmosphere and environment, and hopefully, we will get the rewards on the field,” Moeen Ali said.
About batting at No.3 position whereas he bats at No.7 position for England , Moeen Ali said, “I really enjoy batting at number three, you can have a chance to have an impact. Batting at no. 7 is such a hard number to bat at. We have such a good England side, and I bat at no. 7. It’s just the way it is. I am not dying to go up the order or anything, but if the chance comes to bat up the order, I will take it. But at the moment, I am just enjoying the batting and trying to think like a batsman”.
