J&K’s predicted squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Srinagar, December 27: As Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is expected to announce the squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20s) soon, we look at the players who could make a cut.

The association is currently holding trial matches among probables of both Jammu and Kashmir provinces. Several players have showed promise in these matches so far, however, it seems the squad will be more or less similar to last year’s.

The team will be certainly led by Parvez Rasool and will have likes of Abdul Samad and senior campaigners like Shubham Khajuria and Ram Dayal. Among the new lot, Henan Malik looks a strong contender, as he performed excellently in Ranji Trophy last year while also struck a few handy cameos in trial matches.

Apart from him, young Vivrant Sharma, who bats left-handed and can roll his arms, looks a probable candidate. Pertinently, all-rounder, Nasir Lone, might also find a place in the team as J&K have been lacking a pacer who can be as good with the bat.

The choice is to be made in between Ahmad Banday and Qamran Iqbal. While Banday showed some form in the last trial match he played, Qamran has been amongst the runs consistently. However, the only concern has been his strike-rate. Both of them can also be considered in the team.

Meanwhile, somebody like Ishtiyaq Elahi, Aqib Mir or Ishtiyaq Rasool might also be looked upon while finalising the squad.
