Srinagar, November 18: Earning himself a landmark in the debut season, J&K cricketer, Abdul Samad, finished IPL 2020 with the highest strike-rate for Sunrisers Hyderabad while fifth overall best in the tournament.

The 19-year-old, who appeared in 12 matches, had a whopping strike-rate of 170.76, finishing just behind Kieron Pollard (191.42), Jofra Archer (179.36), Hardik Pandya (178.98) and Ravindra Jadeja (171.85).

He made 111 runs in 8 innings, including 3 not-outs, in the tournament. As the youngster likes to go after the bowlers, he punched as many as six sixes and eight fours, which sums up to 61% of his runs total runs.

Interestingly, he smashed these sixes off the bowling of some of the best fast-bolwers of the current era, viz Jasprit Bumrah (2), Anrich Nortje (2), Pat Cummins (1) and Kagiso Rabada (1).

Coming into the event with a reputation of a big-hitter, Samad left no stone unturned to display his power-striking. However, there is no doubt that he would have wanted to execute a few outings in an even better manner.

Meanwhile, with mega auction expected to take place ahead of the next season, how other teams, apart from Sunrisers, look at him will be quite interesting to see. It will largely depend on how he goes in the upcoming domestic season as well.
