Srinagar, July 16: Indian U-19 cricket team including Jammu and Kashmir’s Qamran Iqbal on Monday left for England for the upcoming tri-series from New Delhi.
Qamran, after making it to the squad, was earlier accused of faking his birth, however, the same wasn’t confirmed, hence giving him a nod to travel England. Another J&K cricketer, Rasikh Salam, who also was part of the team initially, was withdrawn later after found guilty of tempering his age.
Meanwhile, Qamran alongside other teammates will be playing a One-day-formatted tri-series, featuring India, hosts England and Bangladesh. The series will start from 21th July.
Qamran, a Srinagar native, is right-handed opening batsman who likes to go after bowlers from the word go. He has been quite consistent with his performances at this level, owning him the place in the U-19 team.
