BCCI v Lodha: BCCI top brass survives as SC reserves order

NEW DELHI: The top brass of the BCCI have lived to see another day, it appears, after the Chief Justice of India TS Thakur requested for an undertaking on the dates by when the Indian cricket board will adapt to the Justice Lodha Committee’s reforms.

Having on October 7 postponed its hearing on the BCCI v Lodha matter until October 17 owing to a ten-day recess for the Dussehra holidays, it was expected that the Supreme Court would on Monday announce its order on the Lodha Committee’s plea seeking to replace the current BCCI top brass for impeding the panel’s work to usher in transparency and accountability in Indian cricket administration, but CJI Thakur’s request has handed the board more time.
The BCCI, through its senior lawyer Kapil Sibal, requested the SC for more time implement the reforms. A deadline has not been set yet.
