Report: Dazzling Kerala knocks J&K out of the tournament

A brilliant bowling show on Wednesday steered Kerala to a thumping win against Jammu and Kashmir DVRP Ground, Mulapadu in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Batting first, Kerala lost early wickets, however, Vinoop Manoharan came to rescue, scoring a much-needed 52-run knock. He was well supported by Mohammed Azharuddeen who made 32 runs. Pertinently, a late cameo by Salman Nizar helped Sachin Baby-led side post a par total of 160 runs on board.

J&K, in reply, started off horribly, losing half of its side under the score of 41 runs. None of the batsmen looked in control while the injury blow to captain, Parvez Rasool added to the woes. He couldn’t come out to bat as J&K finished the inning at 65-9 in 14.2 overs, earning Kerala a big win of 94 runs.

With this defeat, the road to qualify for Super League round ended for Jammu and Kashmir though they still have a match to play against Manipur.
