Senior cricketer, Abid Nabi on Monday lashed out at JKCA selectors for picking a ‘biased’ team for upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Nabi who last played for the state in the same tournament a couple of years ago has since been out of the national scenes. Having carried a legacy on his shoulders for many years, the Srinagar-born cricketer lost his prime years by the hands of the then JKCA officials’, he says.
The right-arm pacer has since been in awe of proper opportunities, however, having entered into his 30’s, he often gets rejected for fitness issues, which he says is an ‘excuse’.
He was recently named in the 25-member T20 shortlist but missed out on making it to the final squad. Abid thinks the selectors have picked a ‘biased’ squad and left him out without any cause,
“I performed well in trial matches and did good in the camp as well. But I don’t know why selectors are neglecting me. It’s shows the bias,” Abid said.
He also ruled out the fitness issues, saying when injured Ram Dayal could be picked in the team, why not him,
“Ram Dayal was injured and he said it himself. But how come is he in team and not me? How can they say I’m not fit,” He questioned.
The bowler also took a dig at JKCA officials. He said none of them are answering his phone calls and texts,
“Nobody is taking my call. It seems like there is nobody at the helm,” he added.
