With the announcement of 16-member team for J&K‘s Ranji trophy campaign, seasoned wicket keeper batsman Obaid Haroon and stylish batsman Owais Shah have made comebacks into J&K team.
JKCA on Saturday announced the 16 member J&K squad for 1st 2 matches of Ranji Trophy. The out of favour wicket keeper batsman Obaid Haroon has been included in the team so is Owais Shah who was unlucky to miss Vijay Hazare trophy team bus earlier in the season.
After testing Asif Khan and Fazil Rashid during Vijay Hazare trophy, selectors have now moved on to put their trust back on the experienced Obaid Haroon. Owais Shah last season was terrific for J&K team and finished with best average among the JK batsman, but still was overlooked for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Though team tried to rectify mistake by calling him midway but the lack of selectors due to resignation of selection committee didn’t helped the cause.
The rest of the team includes almost same as that of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Parvez Rasool would be leading the squad while as Irfan Pathan will again assume the role of player cum mentor.
Meanwhile, the inclusion of Fazil Rashid and Shubham Pundir has came under spotlight as both of them failed miserably in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Squad: Parvez Rasool (C), Irfan Pathan, Shubham Khajuria, Ahmad Banday, Shubham Pundir, Ian Dev Singh, Owais Shah, Obaid Haroon, Waseem Raza, Amir Aziz, Mohammad Mudhasir, Umar Nazir, Aakash Chaudhary, Fazil Rashid, Rohit Sharma and Paras Sharma.
