3 J&K players in Indian Squad for the 10th Asian Wushu championship in Macau

Srinagar: Three players from J&K have been selected in Indian squad for the 10th Asian Wushu championship at Macau (China) from 9th to 16th September 2024.
The Indian Wushu team was undergoing National Coaching camp at NS NIS Patiala organised by the Sports Authority of India. Wushu Association of India conducted selection trials twice to shortlist the Indian Wushu team for the 10th Asian Wushu championship at Macau, preliminary selection trial was held in Jammu whereas the final selection trial was held at Karnataka.
“It is a great honor for the Wushu Association of J&K as well for the UT J&K that 03 players are in the indian squad for the 10th Asian Wushu championship namely Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, Abhishek Jamwal and Rajat Charak quoted by Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee),” Wushu Association J&K statement said.
“All the three players are the best probable for the medals in the Asian championship, earlier Surya Bhanu Partap Singh secured Silver medal in the BRICS games whereas Abhishek Jamwal and Rajat Charak are the National champions in their respective weight category. Surya Bhanu partap singh has number of medals to his feather including first ever Asian Games medal, whereas Abhishek Jamwal remained the Lone Gold medalist in the Gujarat National Games from UT J&K”.

30 Member Indian Wushu team was sanctioned by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Sports Authority of India at Cost to government. The team is reaching Macau on 9th September, the Weigh in and draw of lots will take place on 10th september , the bouts will take place from 11th September 2024. Surya Bhanu Partap Singh has been selected in beow 65kg, Abhishek Jamwal in 56kg whereas Rajat Charak in Below 90kg.

The Wushu Association of J&K office bearers including president Sh. Vijay Saraf and General Secretary Ms.Bhavneet congratulated all the 03 players and wished them all the very best as well for the Indian Wushu team for the 10th Asian championship.
Kuldeep Handoo (Dronacharya Awardee) also congratulated the trio athletes of J&k for making all of us proud and wished them the best of luck. he also Wished good luck to the Indian Contingent for the Asian Championship.
