Mumbai: India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was reportedly rushed to hospital just hours after Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League match against Rajasthan in Pune, after complaining of severe stomach pain.
According to a post shared on X by a senior Indian Express journalist, the 23-year-old batter experienced stomach cramps during the match, which worsened significantly once the game concluded. Jaiswal was taken to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where he was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.
Medical Tests and Treatment
Doctors administered intravenous medication and conducted ultrasound (USG) and CT scans to assess his condition. Jaiswal has since been advised to continue medication and take adequate rest. There has been no official medical bulletin from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) so far, though an update is expected in the coming days.
Played Through Discomfort
Despite being in visible discomfort, Jaiswal featured in the match and scored 15 off 16 balls as Mumbai successfully chased down a challenging 217-run target to secure a three-wicket win. Ajinkya Rahane led the chase with an unbeaten 72, while Sarfaraz Khan’s explosive 73 off 22 balls proved decisive.
However, Mumbai were later eliminated from the tournament despite the victory.
Recent Form and Recovery Outlook
Jaiswal has been in impressive form in recent weeks. During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 145 runs in three matches at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. He also enjoyed a strong showing in India’s recent ODI series against South Africa, amassing 156 runs in three matches at an average of 78, including his maiden ODI century.
With no immediate international assignments and not currently part of India’s T20I squad, Jaiswal is expected to have sufficient time to recover ahead of India’s next international commitments scheduled for mid-January.
