With that pace, this Indian pacer will struggle in Australia: Wasim Akram

Srinagar: Team India has been hit injuries and with Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022, the pace attack looks vulnerable.

India is yet to announce replacement for the Bumrah, but Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj have been summoned to Australia to join team. One of them is likely to replace Bumrah.

Meanwhile Pakistan pace legend Wasim Akram has said that India’s senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is going to struggle in the T20 World Cup due to lack of pace.

“India have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he is good with the new ball, but with that pace, if the ball is not swinging, he will probably struggle there. But he is a very good bowler no doubt, swings both ways, has the yorker. But you need pace in Australia,” Akram told Khaleej Times.

“It’s in Australia. The Australians will probably play well, they have a good bowling attack, they know those pitches,” the former player further added.

“India have a good batting line-up. But they still haven’t named Bumrah’s replacement,” Akram said.

India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on 23 October. The Rohit Sharma-led team will hope to shake off their 2021 T20 World Cup and Asia Cup 2022 debacle in a country where they have traditionally fared well.
