Auqib Nabi, a gun all-rounder that any domestic team in India would love to have in their squad is almost getting wasted in J&K, thanks to JKCA’s bizarre team selection.
The 27-year-old has taken 46 wickets in 21 First-class matches at an economy of 3.11 and an average of 29.95, which is best in terms of average and economy in the current squad that JKCA has picked for the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament.
Auqib is also more than capable with the bat. However, despite these numbers, he wasn’t included in J&K’s playing XI against Chattisgarh. This is not the first time J&K’s team management has not treated the all-rounder fairly.
After finishing as J&K’s highest taker in the season before, he rarely got opportunities in the playing XI last year. It remains a mystery why such a skilled all-rounder isn’t getting the deserved chances.
JKCA has also done wrong to another all-rounder: Nasir Lone, who showed a lot of promise but is not being given fair chances. This is coming at a time when India is in desperate need of pace-bowling all-rounders.
