Srinagar: Pakistan beat visitors West Indies easily in first Test in Multan but there was one bright spot for the West Indies as their left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican on Sunday, made history with his seven-wicket haul in the second innings.
Warrican, who ran through the Pakistan batting in the second innings, became the first West Indian bowler to register a five-wicket haul in a Test in Pakistan.
His sensational bowling figures of 7/31 also became the best by a Caribbean bowler in the country, surpassing Sonny Ramadhin’s 66-year-old record of 4/25.
His bowling figures also ranked him third in the list of best bowling figures by a touring side’s bowler in Tests in Pakistan, while the best by a visiting spinner in the country.
Ravi Ratnayeke leads the elusive list with 8/83 in Sialkot in 1985, followed by legendary Indian all-rounder and World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev, who had 8/85 in 1983.
