Srinagar, May 15: Former India all-rounder ans J&K mentor Irfan Pathan lead the praise as J&K pace sensation Umran Malik took three wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL 2022 on Saturday.
After having gone wicketless in the last three matches Umran Malik was on fire against KKR and ended up with the figures of three for 33 in his quota of four overs.
In the eighth over of the innings, Umran was introduced to the attack, and in his first over itself, he dismissed both the set batters – Nitish Rana and Ajinkya Rahane. He first got rid of Rana on the third ball of the over and then, on the last ball, sent senior pro Rahane back to the pavilion. The duo added 48 runs for the second wicket, but Umran brought SRH back into the contest.
And in the next over of his spell, he took the prized wicket of opposition captain Shreyas Iyer for 15 runs. Interestingly, all three of his dismissals on Saturday (May 14) were catches.
The fans and former cricketers, including Irfan Pathan, were impressed by the youngster’s performance in a must-win game for both the teams and took to Twitter to appreciate the fast-bowler.
“Push him when does well, Back him when he doesn’t. He is still young but with tons of potential. well done my boy UmranMalik,” Irfan Pathan Tweeted.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be up against Mumbai Indians on May 17 and Punjab Kings on May 22.
