Muhammad Rizwan is usually considered a calm character who is always smiling but even he got heated up a bit in the ongoing World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and South Africa in Chennai.
Rizwan charged down Marco Jansen and it edged away for a four. The shot seemed to have frustrated the bowler a bit and he said something to Rizwan. Surprisingly, Rizwan didn’t hold back and replied as aggressively.
Before it could turn more hostile, other South African players took away Jansen while Babar tried calming Rizwan down.
On the next ball, Jansen again said something but this time Rizwan got into his typical character by responding with a smile.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first. They didn’t get off to a start they would have wanted, losing two early wickets with both openers departing cheaply.
Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq both were caught playing ordinary shots off Marco Jansen’s bowling.
Now, skipper Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan are at the crease. It is a do-or-die match for Pakistan. If they lose, they will be virtually almost out of the tournament.
