Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s Umran Malik and another pacer Mohammed Siraj are set to travel with India’s World Cup squad to Perth as back-up for an injured Jaspirt Bumrah and net-bowlers for the preparatory period.
As per a report in Sportstar, “Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik will travel with the squad to Perth on October 6, where the Indian team will train for a week before travelling to Brisbane for its first warm-up match on October 17.”
There are speculations that Jasprit Bumrah might be ruled out of the India’s World Cup squad due to a back injury.
While reports on Thursday said he has been suggested a rest of at least four months, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly earlier today stated that there is still a long way to go for World Cup and Bumrah might get fit till then.
Umran is the only second Jammu and Kashmir cricketer to have played international cricket after Parvez Rasool.
