Umran Malik becomes second J&K cricketer to play international cricket after Parvez Rasool

Umran Malik will on Sunday night become only the second Jammu and Kashmir cricketer to play international cricket after Parvez Rasool.

Umran was handed his debut Indian cap before the first T20I against Ireland. He received the cap from senior bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Umran picked 22 wickets in IPL 2022 and impressed one and all with his express pace. He was rewarded with maiden Indian call-up in the five-match T20I series against South Africa.

However, as India played the same XI in all the matches, he couldn’t make his debut.

From J&K, Parvez Rasool is the only one to have played international cricket before Umran. The all-rounder played a solitary T20I and ODI for India.
