
After four straight defeat, J&K U-23 team on Friday opened their winning account by pipping Chattisgarh by one wicket in the ongoing One day tourney at Jaipur.
After inviting Chattisgarh to bat first, J&K bowlers stuck at right lengths, scalping early wickets. However, Mayank Wadher reassembled the innings somehow in the middle, helping his team reach a fighting total. He made 53 runs while Tiwary contributed 30-run cameo, finishing innings at 177 runs.
For bowling side, Auqib Nabi was pick of the bowlers as they took 3 wickets while Irfan Haq also chipped with 2 wickets.
Chasing the target, J&K openers started well, forming 57 runs stand. However, when J&K crossed 100-run mark, wickets started falling in quick succession.
The match reached at the thrilling point where J&K required 5 runs with just one wicket in hand. Number 11, Imtiyaz Ganai smashed a six, under pressure to take his team home with a one wicket win.
Jiyaad Magrey with 54 runs topped the batting chart for J&K.
