Flamboyant performance by all-rounder, Abid Mushtaq, on Tuesday, piloted J&K to a comfortable five-wicket victory over mighty, Tamil Nadu in the ongoing U-23 One-day tourney at K L Saini Stadium, Jaipur.
Tamil Nadu, earlier, after winning the toss opted to bat first, however, started off miserably, losing half of their side on 71 runs. The lower-order batsman, Nidish Rajagopal, came to rescue as he scored crucial 55 runs to steer Tamil Nadu to 192 runs total in the allotted 50 overs.
For bowling side, spin duo of the skipper, Sahil Lotra and left-arm orthodox, Abid Mushtaq shared four wickets, two each while pacer, Irfan Ul Haq also chipped in with a brace.
Replying to this under-par score, J&K also didn’t start well. They kept losing wickets on regular basis. However, it was Abid and Lotra who made sure to resist at the crease. The former made fiery unbeaten 53-ball 59 runs while latter finished with 49 runs to take their team to a five-wicket win.
It was the second victory for Jammu and Kashmir in the six matches they played thus far.
