Minnows Meghalaya on Tuesday crushed J&K by 8 wickets in the first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at IS Bindra Stadium, Punjab.
The match was reduced to 9 overs a side and J&K made 82 runs after being invited to bat first. Abdul Samad top-scored with an unbeaten 22 off 12 runs.
In response, J&K bowlers were thrashed by Meghalaya batters, led by skipper Punit Bisht. They chased down the total in 7.3 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
Almost all J&K bowlers went for plenty. Parvez Rasool who gave away 18 in his only over was the most expensive. Mujtaba Yousuf and Umran Malik picked up a wicket each.
Punit Bisht was the hero for Meghalaya. The wicket-keeper batter struck an unbeaten 23-ball 51.
