Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has finalised the squad for the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational Cup with a few surprise omissions in the team, KSW learned through sources on Tuesday.
The multi-day tournament organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) begins on August 15. Many state associations take part in this historic tournament.
Bizarrely, JKCA held one-day trial matches before selecting the team for this red-ball tourney. A few top contenders like Nasir Lone, Henan Malik and Fazil Rashid have been left out of the squad.
However, opening batter Ahmad Banday, who was out of the scene for quite a while, is making a return after doing exceedingly well in the trial matches. Paras Dogra, the Himachal Pradesh cricketer, who has been roped in as a guest player is likely to lead the team.
The squad will gather at Jammu before leaving for Tamil Nadu for the Buchi Babu Tournament.
