Srinagar, March 20: In the ongoing Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket tourney going on at Islamia college play field SSM College of Engineering defeated Govt. Degree College Bijbehara by 6 wickets on Saturday.
Before the toss the teams were introduced to Dr. Nasreen Qureshi, Dean Students Welfare Islamia College. After winning the toss Bijbehara Captain decided to bat first and the full team got out in 19.3 overs scoring 111 runs with the help of 25 runs by Salman and 19 by Yawar. For SSM Faizan took 5 wicket and Faizan ul Haq took 3. S S M College chased the required target in 19.1 overs losing 4 wickets in the process. Mudasir scored 53 and Shabir 28 runs for their team. Aftab Naiko took 2 wickets for Bijbihara College. Faizan Ahmed of SSM College was adjudged the man of the match. In the next match GDC Anantnag will play against GDC Tangmarg. The tournament is being organised by department of physical education of the college to commemorate the memory of late Prof. Mohammed Yousuf the ex principal.
