Srinagar: In another shocking incident of negligence, J&K Sports Council which looks after J&K Football activities in the absence of J&K Football Association body, has once again failed to send J&K team for the National level BC Roy Football Championship 2025 organised by All India Football Federation.
The tournament is for Under-17 boys and is scheduled to be held in Balaghat Madhya Pradesh with J&K matches on July 27 vs Haryana, July 29 vs Assam while as on July 31 vs Rajasthan.
While the match is tomorrow, J&K Sports Council has forgot tournament totally with its officials mostly busy at TRC these days. Sports Council that looks after football activities in J&K has not held any trials, any camps and the team hasnt been sent for the participation, thus taking away chance from our kids to play at highest level.
As per reports and the sources available, Sports Council had earlier skipped sending team for Under-19 tournament as well.
“As the J&K Match is scheduled on 27 July 2025, Sports council has held no trials, no selection and skipped the event. Same was with earlier done with U19 that too which was also skipped due to unknown reasons,” former JKFA official said.
“Sir I am getting too many calls and have no answer at all. Why Sports Council didnt sent teams , puzzle me,” he added.
Basically, fielding teams in National events is responsibility of J&K Football Assocoation. However, in the absence of elected body from last two-three years it has been Sports Council deputing teams.
As per Sports Council official, they were of the opinion that adhoc committee constituted by AIFF for JKFA management will be preparing teams.
“Sports Council was informed that the Adhoc Committee for J&K had been constituted by AIFF to manage day-to-day football matters and speed up the election process. The committee was asked to be facilitated by the Council. The trials were supposed to be conducted by the Adhoc Committee, but they never showed up. The JKSC then also requested AIFF issue a directive to the Council to raise the J&K Team for the Junior National, and reschedule the fixture, making J&K teams participation possible. But that also didn’t happened as there were four groups already playing at the same venue,” Sports Council official said.
“In absence of JKFA, JKSC has been sending teams to the Nationals for the last three years. This time, why wouldn’t they send a team?. Nothing else but the Adhoc Committee’s confusion caused this to occur. AIFF would have banned JKFA for failing to hold elected body elections in a timely manner. In order to prevent player suffering, JKSC asked AIFF to allow JKSC to raise the J&K teams to the Nationals, which was beyond its mandate,” another officials said.
In-between the mismanagment of AIFF, JKFA and Sports Council it is football and youth of J&K has suffered.
