Smriti Mandhana Deletes Wedding Posts as Marriage With Palash Muchhal Put on Hold

Mumbai: Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has quietly removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram after her much-anticipated marriage to music composer Palash Muchhal was unexpectedly postponed. The couple was scheduled to tie the knot on November 23, but a sudden medical emergency in the Mandhana family halted the celebrations.

The news was officially confirmed by Palash’s sister, singer Palak Muchhal, who posted a message on Instagram requesting privacy.
Her statement read:
“Due to Smriti’s father’s health, Smriti and Palash’s wedding has been put on hold. We would request you all to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time.”

Medical Emergency on Wedding Day

On the day of the planned ceremony, Smriti’s father Shrinivas Mandhana reportedly experienced heart-attack-like symptoms and was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli. The sudden health scare completely shifted the mood from celebration to concern.

A day later, composer Palash Muchhal also fell ill and was admitted to a hospital in Sangli. His mother told Hindustan Times that Palash became extremely emotional after Shrinivas’s condition deteriorated.

She explained:
“He is very close to Smriti’s father. When he fell ill, Palash said they should not continue with the wedding rituals. He cried so much that his own health worsened.”

Doctors kept him under monitoring for four hours, conducting ECGs and additional tests before concluding that stress had triggered the episode. Palash has since returned to Mumbai and is recovering at home, though the family says both he and Smriti are under considerable emotional strain.

Wedding Post Removal Sparks Concern

Smriti Mandhana has now deleted all wedding announcements and celebratory posts from her social media accounts, prompting fans to express concern and send wishes to both families.

A Relationship Built Over Years

Smriti and Palash have been together since 2019, keeping their relationship private for nearly five years. They went public only in July 2024, sharing an anniversary photo. Palash also posted a heartfelt video of his proposal at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai with the caption: “She said yes.”

For now, both families are prioritising health and recovery, with no new date announced for the wedding.
