Santosh Trophy: Gujarat beat J&K by 2-1

Srinagar: J&K senior football team started its campaign in the 77 th Senior men’s National Football championship 2023-24 with a defeat against Gujarat at SAG Benaulim Football Ground, Goa on Monday.

In the match, Gujarat beat J&K by 2-1 margin.

Chunsaba Bariam scored first goal for Gujarat in 41st minute and at half time were leading by 1-0. In the second half, J&K were reduced to 10 men as Shahmeer Tariq received red card in the 62nd minute.Seigoumang Thangminlen Doungle scored second goal for Gujarat in 72nd minute. Adnan Ayub scored one back for J&K in the 81st minute. However, J&K failed to score equaliser as Gujarat held on to the lead to claim 2-1 win.Dushyant Sharma was awarded player of the match award.

J&K next clash with Chattisgarh on Wednesday.
