J&K Cricket Association(JKCA) is conducting the trials to select team for upcoming Vijay Hazare one day tournament at Jammu from past five days.
Various players across both regions are taking part in it. After few days of net sessions, trials matches were being held in order to get the best available team picked for the tourney.
But unfortunate to say that there is complete dominance of Jammu region in trials which is costing valley players hugely. Jammu region selectors are trying to give more preference to Jammu players and get most of the guys from Jammu in the team.
Many well known players who have previously represented state at highest level like Abid Nabi, Mohsin Mufti, Aadil Reshi, Syed Sagar etc have been mercilessly ignored.
They have been provided very less chances despite having been consistent in whatever chances they were provided.
In the ongoing trials too, they have been already sidelined though the team is yet to be announced.
“Many known players from valley have been given just a match or two while some Jammu players have featured in more than 5 matches” said a source
“Isn’t it injustice with these extremely talented players? They have been doing well in domestic arena but if they won’t get chance in trial matches, how would they prove their worth?” it added
Another concerned source mentioned that there are some players from Jammu who are getting strong back from selectors,
“So far five trial matches have been played and a player(name with held) has featured in 6 innings while as many star players from valley have played only two innings.”
“These guys are taking use of CEO being away as they are trying to bring on their own players in the team” it further said.
JKCA has always been in news but for all negative causes, but we are hopeful that the new Selection committee would do the justice and select the deserving team.
