Ranji Trophy: J&K aim quarter-berth as they face Tripura

Srinagar, February 03: Jammu and Kashmir will aim to earn an outright victory to make it to the qaurter-finals of Ranji Trophy as they face Tripura at Agartala on Tuesday.

After an unreal run in the tournament, winning five matches on trot, J&K conceded first innings lead in the rain-hit last match against Chattisgarh. With 33 points from 7 games, the north Indian side is standing at second spot in the Elite Group C points table.

An outright win against Tripura would ensure J&K’s entry in the quarter-finals of the premier tournament. The erstwhile state has thus far only made it to the next round twice.

Meanwhile, despite unimpressive outing in last match, the Parvez Rasool-led side will go into the match with full confidence since Tripura is struggling down the table. However, the visitors would be hoping the weather won’t disrupt the game as has been the case in two of their matches earlier.

If fit, Mohammed Mudhasir, is expected to return to the playing XI after missing the last match due to illness. With Ahmad Banday still not showing signs of form, Henan Malik or Jiyad Magrey might get a chance.
