Star cricketer Parvez Rasool who missed J&K’s first two Ranji trophy matches against Uttarakhand and Maharashtra is also going to miss the third Ranji trophy match.
J&K Cricket Association is going to host Assam for Ranji trophy match from December 25 and Parvez Rasool wouldn’t be playing in the match. It will be third consecutive match that Parvez would be missing this season.
Parvez Rasool who was named in the J&K squad didn’t went with J&K side to Dehradun and instead had went to National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bangalore to get expert review on his injury status.
“After getting review from experts at NCA, it has been made clear that Parvez Rasool will not require a surgery and can recover in around two to three weeks time. He had suffered knee injury during training session at Jammu and then decided not to go alongwith the team,” said a team official.
It was expected that he would be fit for the third match but now it has been revealed that his injury is yet to heal properly.
“He is not yet fully fit and injury will take time to heel. Hopefully he will be fit for the next match,” said an official.
Ironically selectors haven’t announced his replacement in the squad despite knowing that Parvez would be out for atleast three matches.
In his absence, youngster Shubham Pundir was handed the responsibility of leading side and the middle order batsman has lead side well. He has lead team to two opening wins in the Ranji trophy and with the level of form that J&K is in; it looks like they will win easily against Assam side as well.
