JAMMU, Nov — Jammu & Kashmir are on the verge of securing yet another emphatic victory in the Ranji Trophy 2025 Elite Group D encounter, after setting a commanding target of 472 runs for Hyderabad on Day 3 at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, Jammu. By the end of the day’s play, the visitors struggled to 169/7, still requiring 303 more runs with only three wickets in hand ahead of the final day.
J&K continued their dominant run in the domestic season, with their bowlers once again taking control of the proceedings. Left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq spearheaded the attack with a superb spell, ensuring Hyderabad batters found no momentum to stage a comeback.
Earlier in the day, J&K resumed their second innings with Abdul Samad and Kanahya Wadhawan looking to accelerate the score. Wadhawan, nearing a brilliant century, missed out by just five runs when he was bowled by B Punnaiah on 95.
Abdul Samad, showcasing his class and power-hitting ability, powered his way to a sparkling 125, eventually being dismissed via a return catch by T Thyagarajan. Contributions from the lower order pushed J&K to a strong total of 422 all out.
For Hyderabad, T Thyagarajan delivered a standout bowling performance with 4 wickets, supported by CTL Rakshann (3), Kartikeya Kak (2) and B Punnaiah (1).
In reply, Hyderabad started positively with openers Tanmay Aggarwal and Abhirath Reddy, but the partnership didn’t last long as Reddy departed for 18. Just before Tea, Aggarwal was removed for 47 by off-spinner Sahil Lalotra, triggering a collapse. Skipper Rahul Singh (30) battled hard but couldn’t stop the steady fall of wickets.
With Abid Mushtaq claiming four wickets, Sahil Lalotra picking two, and Aquib Nabi taking one, J&K ended the day in complete control.
As the final day approaches, Jammu and Kashmir require just three wickets to claim the top spot in the group standings, whereas Hyderabad face an improbable chase of 303 runs under pressure.
