Srinagar: The Swim N Survival Society–Kashmir (SNSS-K) successfully held RAK Therm 7th Underwater Sports Championship on Sunday at the scenic Water Sports Centre, Nigeen. The event, sponsored by RAK Therm Global, saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 swimmers, aged between 6 and 58 years, who competed across various age-appropriate categories.

A total of 12 events were held—8 for boys and senior men, and 4 for girls—highlighting the Society’s inclusive approach to promoting underwater sports and water safety across all demographics. The championship served as a platform for athletes to showcase skill, stamina, and competitive spirit.

The valedictory function was graced by Azad Ahmad Bhat of RAK Therm, who served as the Chief Guest, along with Imran Yousuf Wani, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager, RAK Therm. Both dignitaries congratulated the winners and runner-ups and lauded the efforts of the organizers and coaches.

Also present were JKMAC Secretary Sayed Tahir, SNSS-K President Haji Shakeel Ahmad Shah, Vice President Dr. Sheikh Tariq, Secretary Yasir Yousuf Makhdoomi, and renowned swimming coach Riyaz Wani, alongside the dedicated team of SNSS-K experts: Mohammad Faaliq Najar, Mudasir Jeelani Chasti, Owais Rashid, and Mohsin Fayaz. Their ongoing early-morning training sessions and commitment to nurturing talent were acknowledged with great appreciation.

In his remarks, Azad Ahmad Bhat emphasized the importance of supporting grassroots sports development, while Imran Yousuf Wani praised the coaching team’s dedication, calling their passion “an inspiration for the community.”

President Haji Shakeel Ahmad Shah applauded all participants for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship, and thanked the entire organizing team for conducting the event seamlessly.

A vote of thanks was extended to the SDRF team, the Underwater Sports Association of J&K, all officials, sponsors, and volunteers for their invaluable support.

This championship adds to the growing list of impactful initiatives by Swim N Survival Society–Kashmir, following the success of the 100 Days Swimming Camp, the observance of World Drowning Prevention Day, and numerous water safety awareness drives. The Society remains steadfast in its mission to promote swimming as a life-saving skill and a recognized sport throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
